How to make Hot Sake at home

There is an idea that Sake is drunk hot, which is not always correct. Some sake are suitable hot sake but not all sake. But you can drink along with our preference,

 

Anyway hot 

 

~What to need~

-Bottle of Sake

-Tokkuri (Sake bottle)

-Ochoko (Sake cup)

-Cooking pot or Microwave

 

~Where to buy in London~

Central London: Japan Centre or Ricewine shop(both at picadilly circus)

East London: Japan Centre at Stratford

West London: Ichiba at White city

 

~How to make with Hot pot (recomended)~

1. Pour sake into Tokkuri up to 90%, put plastic rap on the top to keep aroma of Sake. 

2 Put Tokkuri into the pot and pour water into the pot until half of the Tokkuri is coverd. 

3. Take out the Tokkuri from the pot and start heating pot until water is boiled.

4. Stop heating and put Tokkuri into the pot.

5. Wait for 2-3 minutes according to your preference*

6. Put sake into sake cup and Enjoy!

 

*If the wake come up to the edge, it would be nice temperature. it is said 45 degree celcius is best temperature. if you feel a bit too hot when you touch the bottom of the tokkuri, it is around 45 degree.

 

~How to make with Microwave~

1. Pour 180 ml of sake into Tokkuri, put plastic rap on the top to keep aroma of Sake. 

2. Put Tokkuri into micro wave and heat 30 seconds with 500W.

3. Take out the Tokkuri and shake it to equalize the temperature.

4. Reheat 10-30 seconds according ot your pereference.

5. Put sake into sake cup and Enjoy!
